Women tennis: Hall-Dale ladies remain perfect with MVC title victory over Spruce Mountain

FARMINGDALE — The journey isn’t done for the Hall-Dale girls tennis workforce. But Thursday evening marked a good step alongside the way.

The Bulldogs won the Mountain Valley Convention championship, defeating Spruce Mountain 4-1. Hall-Dale, which experienced tiebreakers at second singles and both of those doubles matches and gained all three, remained undefeated at 11-, when the Phoenix fell to 8-3.

“A good deal of grit today,” mentor Guy Cousins explained. “Great aim, terrific mental toughness, and we saw that at distinct factors throughout the match with various individuals stepping up and executing their aspect.”

The victory turned formal when Savannah Millay defeat Sarah Henderson 7-6 (1), 6-2 at 2nd doubles, putting Corridor-Dale up 3-1, and Naomi Lynch completed off a 6-, 6- gain at No. 1 singles more than Hanni Johnson seconds later. 

“It feels really very good proper now,” Millay reported. “Everybody on this crew is fairly new, and they’ve improved so a great deal. I’m seriously happy of them, we have occur so far.”

Corridor-Dale also obtained a 6-1, 6-3 win at third singles from Ella Schaab around Leah Gilbert, and a 3-6, 7-6 (6), 6- acquire at initially doubles from Moira O’Connor and Jenna Lee more than Hannah Coates and Kaila Godby. The doubles victory from O’Connor and Lee, both equally of whom are initial-year gamers, tilted the match in Hall-Dale’s favor, as Spruce Mountain was a tiebreaker away from sweeping doubles, taking a 2-1 guide and placing tension on Millay and Lynch at the top rated singles matches.

Mary Hamblin and Aubrey Kachnovich took a 6-, 6-7 (1), 6-1 victory at next doubles for the Phoenix about Kayla Lee and Katie Allen.
