There’s a new cafe at the National Lodge.

The South Seashore Artwork Deco hotel, which was constructed in 1939 and recently rebranded as an older people-only resort, has opened Marea 1939, a Spanish thought from executive chef Sergio Chamizo. The restaurant functions an outdoor terrace overlooking the well-known pool as very well as indoor seating.

Chamizo, who grew up in coastal Spain, learned to enjoy cooking by viewing his mom and grandmother and attended culinary faculty in Madrid. Most recently, he was the owner and executive chef at Alma in Coconut Grove.

Those early influences will be located all around the menu, in such merchandise as honey-spiced duck breast and black paella with seared scallops and shrimp. Lots of plates will be shareable, like patatas bravas (spicy potatoes), Cantabrian anchovies and Spanish octopus.

The arrival of Marea 1939 also comes with a rebranding of the hotel’s bars. Bar 1939 overlooks the Artwork Deco foyer, serving handmade cocktails and light-weight bites. The Playa Bar, positioned up coming to the infinity pool, will also serve craft cocktails as very well as seasonal dishes.

And if you want to get genuinely extravagant, reserve the private cocktail lounge for specialty martinis, champagne, whiskeys and brandies.

“The National Hotel has constantly been an iconic property on Collins Avenue,” reported the hotel’s administration business in a release. “Miami provides a melting pot of cultures and experiences, and we knew Chef Sergio and his staff would be in a position to embrace and showcase that.”

The cafe is open each day for breakfast and evening meal.
