‘Big Boy’ steam motor to check out St. Louis this August

ST. LOUIS – The world’s major steam locomotive continue to in service will pay a visit to St. Louis afterwards summertime as element of a five-week nationwide tour.

The Union Pacific Massive Boy No. 4014 will depart from Cheyenne, Wyoming, on Thursday, Aug. 5, and travel by way of 10 states, making 5 “display stops” alongside the way for onlookers and coach enthusiasts.

Union Pacific made 25 Large Boy locomotives in all. The 4014 is the previous remaining Significant Boy in assistance. Seven other Major Boys are on community screen in the course of the country, which includes the Museum of Transportation in St. Louis.

The locomotive will journey by way of Poplar Bluff, Kirkwood, Pacific, Hermann, Jefferson City, Sedalia, and other Missouri towns on its tour. However, the practice will only be out there for community viewing in St. Louis and Kansas City.

The Major Boy 4014 will arrive in St. Louis on Saturday, Aug. 28, at 6:30 p.m. It’ll be on exhibit from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 29, and depart the next early morning on its westerly journey to Kansas.
