India junior women’s hockey staff set for Chile tour

The tour will serve as planning for the Junior Asia Cup and Junior World Cup later this year

The Indian junior women’s hockey team will last but not least see competitive action following more than a 12 months with out any matches thanks to the Coronavirus pandemic.

The junior eves will travel to Chile for a six-match tour later on this thirty day period, Hockey India mentioned in a release.

Their last aggressive tournament was performed back in December 2019 in a tri-country opposition against Australia and New Zealand.

The crew will play the junior Chile staff on January 17 and 18 1st up. Then they will take on the senior Chile staff on January 20, 21, 23 and 24.

The tour is thought of essential as the side prepares for the Junior Women’s Planet Cup, established to be held in South Africa in December 2021. It should be pointed out that the Junior Women’s Asia Cup is also set to be held in April 2021 in Japan.

Hockey India (Hi) has named a 24-member squad for the tour, led by defender Suman Devi Thoudam and Ishika Chaudhary who will be the vice-captain.

Hockey India and the Chilean Discipline Hockey Federation will also create a bio bubble for all the players and staff concerned in the tour. 

“The total Indian squad (players & assistance staff) will be tested 2 times (when in 72 hrs of departure from India & when at arrival in Chile) just before the Indian staff starts off coaching in Chile,” Hockey India claimed.

“We are absolutely ecstatic about touring Chile as it’s been a though considering the fact that we acquired some match follow due to the coronavirus pandemic, so this will be a superior outing specifically as it is really coming at an apt time,” captain Thoudam claimed.
