Live updates from EasyJet, RyanAir, Tui and other tour operators as people can travel abroad once more

People in Wales are allowed to travel abroad for the first time this year today as international travel returns.

However, those returning from abroad will still have a strict set of rules to follow and only a select few countries will be quarantine free.

Despite the change of guidance, the Welsh Government continues to advise people to only travel abroad for essential purposes as the indian coronavirus variant is an ongoing cause for concern.

A traffic light system will be in place, with countries labelled as green, orange and red, dependent on their Covid situation.

What are the countries on the “green list”?

The green list countries are:

  • Portugal – including the Azores and Madeira

  • Australia

  • New Zealand

  • Singapore

  • Brunei

  • Iceland

  • Faroe Islands

  • Gibraltar

  • Falkland Islands

  • South Georgia and the South Sandwich Islands

  • Saint Helena, Ascension and Tristan da Cunha

  • Israel and Jerusalem.

From Monday, 24 May, a paper-based vaccination status will be available for people in Wales who have had two doses of vaccination and need to urgently travel to a country that requires Covid-19 vaccination proof.

Airlines and travel operators have been reacting as international travel is finally allowed to return with many forecasting a surge in demand, as well as price increases next year.
