Tunisia is latest holiday destination to ease rules for UK visitors

Tunisia is the latest nation to announce it will allow visitors from the UK – but there are conditions.

Restrictions were lifted on Monday for tourists on package holidays – but it insists visitors must provide proof they have booked a flight, transfer and tourist accommodation as part of an organised and supervised trip.

Arrivals must also produce evidence of a negative PCR test taken no more than 72 hours before travel.

Restrictions are also in place for holidaymakers whilst they are in the country. They must commit to staying in groups in Tunisia, only use regulated transport and accommodation, and comply with the country’s Covid-19 Tourism Health Protocol.

Tour operators and ground handlers are asked to ensure “rigorous application” of the conditions.

It is still illegal to leave the UK for non-essential travel. The UK government will allow foreign travel from May 17 at the earliest through a traffic light system of green, amber and red destinations.

Greece and Portugal have both announced in recent weeks they will ease rules surrounding UK visitors who have been vaccinated.

Sri Lanka has also relaxed the entry restrictions for Covid vaccinated visitors.

However, all visitors – if they have been jabbed or not – must still show proof of a negative PCR test taken within the 96 hours of a flight.
