60 New Hotel Openings Around The World For Fall 2021

The hospitality industry continues to grow, even during a pandemic. While just a handful of the many hotels to open their doors for the first time between September and November, these 60 hotels are ready to make their grand debut.

Opening a new hotel during a pandemic is no easy feat, and reopening a closed hotel is no fun, either. But, the travel industry is resilient and teeming with new opportunities like residential real estate companies turning to hotels and, in many markets, vacation rentals taking center stage.

From a boutique hotel within Nelson Mandela’s former residence to a historic North Carolina department store-turned-hotel, these properties are ready and waiting for guests this fall. Here is where to find them.

East Coast

Asheville’s newest hotel opening is located in what was originally the city’s first iconic department store, Bon Marche. Haywood Park Hotel, Ascend Hotel Collection, is situated downtown close to numerous craft breweries, shopping options and museums. When it opens in September, it will participate in the Choice Privileges loyalty program.

The Loutrel, a 50-room hotel in Charleston, South Carolina, will open in October. A rooftop terrace and bar will have panoramic city views from this French Quarter location.

In Maryland, the 229-room Marriott Owings Mills Metro Centre will open in November within walking distance to a nearby metro station and less than 30 minutes from Baltimore.

September brings the first rooftop bar to the Perimeter Center area of Atlanta when the AC Hotel Atlanta Perimeter welcomes its first guests. The Marriott-affiliated hotel brand offers a European-themed experience including Spanish tapas and croissants imported from France as well as in-room amenities like Greek Korres brand toiletries.

Thompson Buckhead will open in November with a rooftop pool and private club. The Atlanta hotel will be in the heart of Buckhead Village and a new World of Hyatt option for visitors to the upscale area.

The Ray Hotel Delray Beach, Curio Collection by Hilton opens in September in Delray Beach, Florida as part of a larger real estate developer’s hotel investment project. It is a LEED Gold Certified hotel featuring living walls, a rooftop floating forest and its own tree canopy.

Southern Florida continues its hotel opening spree with Hillsboro Beach Resort on South Florida’s Hillsboro Mile, locally known as “Millionaire’s Mile.” The hotel will offer complimentary water sports and cruiser bikes to its guests when it opens in October.

Northeast

Omni Boston Hotel at the Seaport is the largest hotel project for the city in decades and part of the growing portfolio of landmark properties for the Omni brand. The hotel has 1,054 harbor-view rooms and suites as well as the biggest ballroom in town. In addition to an elevated pool bar and grill, this will be the only outdoor pool in the Seaport area.

On Cape Cod, Chapter House will open in September as part of an adaptive reuse project in Yarmouth Port. The 21-room inn dates back to 1716 and will offer facilities for both vacationers and those with plans to work remotely from a hotel.

Along Central Park South, Park Lane New York will open in September with almost half of its rooms facing the park. The property will feature 11,000 square feet of indoor and outdoor event space. It is a member of the Preferred Hotels & Resorts group and participates in its I Prefer Hotel Rewards loyalty program.

In the same month, Pendry Manhattan West opens its doors with 164 rooms and suites, a rooftop restaurant and California-inspired decor. The hotel is part of the larger Manhattan West development project.

Opening in October is one of Hilton’s newest brands, Motto by Hilton, which will feature micro-sized guest rooms 42 floors above the city. Motto by Hilton New York City Chelsea will offer 374 rooms located two blocks from Madison Square Park and the Flatiron Building. To save space, these rooms have either wall beds or lofted beds, a “segmented shower and toilet area,” and dual-purpose furniture that can be folded away when not in use.

Between Hell’s Kitchen and the Garment District, voco Times Square South, part of IHG Rewards, opens in October with a greenhouse and outdoor terrace.

Civilian NYC opens in New York’s Theater district this November. In addition to a restaurant and 203 guest rooms, the hotel will also have a library, rooftop bar and “secret garden accessed only from a concealed entry point.”

Near the Village, Hyatt Place Montréal/Downtown’s November opening will put guests close to entertainment and shopping as well as a convenient nearby metro station.

Midwest and Central States

The Big Easy welcomes Virgin Hotels New Orleans in September where the good times will surely roll. The pet-friendly hotel has the expected eclectic decor of a Virgin property as well as a pool club and coffee shop named the “Funny Library,” which it says is “100% our go-to place to LOL.”

The Study Hotels brand will open its third property this October in Chicago. The Study at University of Chicago’s 167 rooms, restaurant and meeting space will be a two-minute walk from campus.

Built in 1913, the historic building housing Le Méridien St. Louis Downtown is a local landmark. When it opens in October, it will weave art into the overall design (a standard for this Marriott brand) while respecting its position on the National Register of Historic Places.

Downtown Indianapolis welcomes the 90-room Hotel Indy in mid-October. Housed in a former office building, the hotel will feature The Hulman rooftop bar, named for the family that bought the Indianapolis Motor Speedway in 1945 and saved it from closure.

IHG’s avid brand continues to grow with new properties around the country including a September opening in Lexington, Kentucky. It will feature avid’s signature, grab-and-go complimentary breakfast as well as the ability to earn and redeem IHG Rewards points.

With both suites and cottage homes, The Neighborhood Hotel Grand Beach along Michigan’s southwest coast offers rustic-meets-luxury design in what was once the historic 1914 Pinewood Lodge, known to have hosted heavyweight fighters of the time like Cinderella Man and James Braddock.

Vail is no stranger to great hotels, and the November opening of The Hythe, Luxury Collection Hotel, Vail, will give Marriott Bonvoy members another choice in the area. At the base of Vail Mountain in Lionshead Village, guests can venture out around town or enjoy the four onsite food and beverage options.

Downtown Denver will be home to a new Hyatt Centric, set to open in October. Hyatt Centric Downtown Denver will offer floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking the city and the Rocky Mountains.

West Coast

The Shay, a Destination by Hyatt hotel in Culver City, California, will open in October with 148 rooms and the region’s first semi-public rooftop pool and lounge.

In Guerneville, California (between wine country and the Sonoma Coast), Stavrand Russian River Valley will open Labor Day weekend. The Spanish revival property, amid organic gardens and groves of redwood trees, will feature 21 rooms plus playful amenities like a poolside bar cart and outdoor lawn games.

In October, el PRADO Hotel will open in Palo Alto taking its name from the famous Madrid art museum and a Spanish design inspiration. In addition to a tapas bar and dual-floor solarium, the hotel will have both indoor and outdoor gathering space.

With its own rooftop bar and lounge, the Cormorant Boutique Hotel will open in La Jolla in October. Named after the area’s famous Cormorant birds, the 26-room hotel overlooking the Pacific Ocean is within walking distance to La Jolla Cove.

Cambria Hotel Calabasas-Malibu will open in October near the Santa Monica Mountains and Malibu beaches. Just off of Highway 1010, the property will have premium bedding and spa-style bathrooms with Bluetooth mirrors.

A new 10-room Tucson boutique hotel is opening in September. The Citizen Hotel will partner with a local wine producer, Sand-Reckoner Vineyards. Visitors can participate in wine tastings and even visit the winery.

Soul-soothing Sedona welcomes the opening of The Wilde Resort & Spa at the base of Thunder Mountain. The 105-room property will open in September with a dining venue inspired by the classic, all-day American diner.

Europe

An iconic property in Madrid will open in October under a new flag. Rosewood Villa Magna will be Rosewood’s first address in Spain and its fourth overall in Europe. Along the prestigious Paseo de la Castellana, the property is unveiling a contemporary interior remodel and will house Amós, its signature restaurant under the helm of Spanish, Michelin-starred chef Jesús Sánchez.

In Madrid’s Azca neighborhood, Hilton will open one of its newer brands in September. Canopy by Hilton Madrid Castellana will offer a food truck serving street food on the patio and a city view pool terrace.

Barcelona will welcome a new luxury hotel when the InterContinental Barcelona opens in September with three restaurants and a spa. Formerly the Crowne Plaza, the hotel underwent a total renovation to meet the IHG brand’s exacting standards.

In the San Lorenzo district, Soho House Rome will open in October as the brand’s seventh European location with 49 bedrooms and 20 apartments.

The September opening of W Rome will mark the first hotel for the Marriott family brand in Italy and bring W’s signature sense of style and penchant for music to the Eternal City.

A wine resort under renowned wine maker Gérard Bertrand, Château l’Hospitalet and Villa Soleilla, will open in September in the south of France. Guests of its 42 rooms will have access to its gourmet restaurant, beach club, new spa and a host of wine experiences at the winery.

In the south of France, Hotel Indigo Cagnes-sur-Mer will open in late September just 30 minutes from Nice and along the French Riviera coast. According to the IHG Rewards-member hotel, French painter Pierre-Auguste Renoir spent his last 12 years living around the corner from the property.

Hotel Indigo will open another European hotel in the Serbian capital, Belgrade. Hotel Indigo Belgrade’s 44 rooms in the city’s Old Town neighborhood will open in September.

Copenhagen will see the opening of the 394-room NH Collection Copenhagen this September. The Spanish brand will offer two restaurants, a bar and ample meeting space. The hotel occupies a historic, nationally protected building on the harbor, and management is working toward sustainability-focused DGNB Gold certification.

Marriott’s 1,000th hotel in the Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) region will open in September as The Westin London City. The riverfront property along the north bank of London’s historic River Thames overlooks Shakespeare’s Globe Theatre and is also marks the Westin brand’s debut in the United Kingdom.

Middle East and Africa

Habitas AlUla will open in October in AlUla, Saudi Arabia. The 96-room, eco-friendly property will be close to the UNESCO World Heritage site of Hegra, where the archaeological remains of the ancient Nabatean civilization are located. Highlights of the property will include an infinity-edge pool overlooking the valley and sandstone canyons.

Nelson Mandela’s former home reopens as a hotel in September in the Johannesburg suburb of Houghton. Sanctuary Mandela has nine rooms and decor inspired by the life of Madiba. Guests can dine on his favorite meals while perusing photographs and artifacts celebrating his life.

Asia-Pacific

Paradise awaits at the new Hilton Tahiti Resort opening in November. Located only five minutes from the international airport, it will be among the easiest properties to reach after a long flight.

In India’s Rajasthan region near Jaipur, Six Senses Fort Barwara opens in September within the walls of a 14th century fort once owned by the Rajasthani Royal Family. Six Senses made considerable effort in conserving the palace and two temples now part of the resort. In addition to gardens and water fountains, it will feature a 30,000 square foot Six Senses Spa.

Regent Phu Quoc will open on Long Beach in Vietnam this November as the first new property following IHG’s acquisition of the Regent Hotels & Resorts brand in 2018. Accommodations at the resort are either suites or villas. Like Six Senses, Regent is one of the many brands that are part of the IHG Rewards loyalty program.

Meliá Chiang Mai is planning to open in November in northern Thailand offering guests urban convenience to the city’s famous night bazaar and all of downtown. As Thailand reopens, the hotel will serve a mix of leisure and business travelers, especially since it will offer executive-level accommodations with access to a private lounge.

Farther south, Meliá Phuket Mai Khao will open in October and continue the brand’s growth in Thailand. It will feature beachfront pool villas and Meliá’s YHI Spa concept.

In the Maldives, JOALI BEING will open in November with 34 beach and 34 water villas. The resort will highlight a variety of workshops and classes for guests with wellbeing experts, herbalists and experienced chefs.

Renaissance Bali Nusa Dua Resort will open in November. The decor of this resort is inspired by Balinese theater and boasts a beach club, organized kids activities and numerous international dining options including an Indonesian restaurant.

The September opening of Sofitel Adelaide will bring a new luxury brand to the city. This is Sofitel’s debut in South Australia and will be part of a mixed-use tower development. While it will appeal mostly to domestic travelers for now, it will eventually welcome more international guests when Australia’s borders fully reopen.

Ishikawa, Japan welcomes Korinkyo, an 18-room boutique hotel, in October. Close to Kanazawa’s Kenrokuen Garden, the property also has its own aroma distillery creating essential oils using local ingredients from the nearby forest.

Latin America and the Caribbean

Towering 58 floors over the city and with views of Chapultepec Park, The Ritz-Carlton Mexico City will open its doors in October to great fanfare. Along Paseo de la Reforma, it will open in time for Mexico’s annual Grand Prix event Formula 1. Its spa will incorporate Aztec culture into its treatment menu.

TMC Hospitality launches a new brand with the September opening of Drift San José del Cabo, a boutique hotel with 29 rooms, outdoor pool, panoramic rooftop and mezcal bar.

Between Cancun and the quiet fishing village of Puerto Morelos, the 714-room Hilton Cancun, an All-Inclusive Resort, will open in November. It will feature nearly a dozen dining venues and over 65,000 square feet of meeting space.

Hyatt Ziva Rivera Cancun opens in September as part of World of Hyatt’s all-inclusive collection of hotels. In addition to pool and beach areas, eight restaurants, six bars and three lounges are part of this family-friendly resort.

Not only will Anguilla see new commercial air service from Miami with American Airlines this fall, but also the November opening of Aurora Anguilla Resort & Golf Club. It is part of The Leading Hotels of the World group of properties. As the only course on the island, the 18-hole Greg Norman Signature Design championship golf course is open to the public, but will offer preferred tee times to guests.

Now under the Rosewood brand, the Rosewood Le Guanahani St. Barth will open in October to guests after a thorough overhaul following Hurricanes Irma and Maria. With 66 guestrooms, suites and villas, the resort has a children’s club, beachfront dining and full-service spa among other amenities.

Karisma Hotels & Resorts will open Margaritaville Island Reserve Cap Cana in October along Playa Juanillo. Unsurprising for the brand, music and entertainment play a central role in the resort’s offering. In addition to a “gourmet village,” it will feature 10 other food and beverage offerings.

On the south coast of Barbados, the O2 Beach Club & Spa will feature three swimming pools including one of the island’s only rooftop pools, six dining options, seven bars and a full-service spa. The resort, which will open in October, also has the island’s only hammam treatment room.

Mangrove Beach Corendon Curacao All-Inclusive Resort, Curio Collection by Hilton, will open in early September. The property features a private beach, four pools and sea-view spa cabanas.
