Pet misplaced for two weeks found in Wicklow mountains

A puppy who was dropped in the snowy Wicklow mountains for two weeks was observed and reunited with her proprietors this weekend.

Jean-Francois Bonnet and Ciara Nolan were being out for a hike on Lugnaquilla, shut to exactly where they reside in Co Wicklow on Saturday.

Near the summit they observed an 8-12 months-previous golden retriever identified as Neesha, who was “frozen”.

She was chilly and weak and could not bark or stand, they explained.

The pair gave her outfits and carried her back down the mountain, a journey of about 10km.

Mr Bonnet claimed the pair hike there really typically and know the area very well, but the temperature was lousy and visibility “wasn’t great”.

“We had been practically at the best when my girlfriend Ciara screamed ‘there is a canine, there is a dog’. And that lousy detail was curled up against the rock,” he advised East Coast FM.

“She was petrified and freezing chilly. She didn’t even have the strength to bark or stand. We tried to get her to walk but she couldn’t stand so we coated her in our spare dresses. We gave her some foodstuff. Ciara set her on my back again, and we started off likely down the mountain, but it was really icy and rocky, so we fell a handful of instances.”

The couple then resolved to strap Neesha to Mr Bonnet’s backpack as a substitute of carrying her.

‘An absolute nightmare’

Speaking on the exact programme, the proprietor Erina O’Shea Goetelen explained the previous two weeks had been “an complete nightmare”. The family had taken their two pet dogs on a wander to the hills two weeks in the past.

“They had been let off the leash so they could have a bit of flexibility, roll about in the snow and explore. They were being heading back down, and they explained they ought to set them back again on the direct. But a deer popped out and the two of them [DOGS] bolted just after the deer,” she claimed.

“My husband and my two kids tried out to run following them but they had been as well fast. Then they misplaced sight of them to the forest.”
