Volusia set to slide again on seaside, Scott stimulus vote and alligators

Backward on  seaside driving

Incoming Volusia County Chair Jeff Brower has a plan for Volusia’s long run, and it frighteningly phone calls for a return to the past. (“New county chair phone calls seashore driving priority,” Dec. 15)  Loud, jacked-up pickup vans gunning up and down the beach unrestricted. Rundown inns greedy for a clientele that mainly no more time exists. Hoards of glassy-eyed young adults wandering the Boardwalk on heat summer time nights. And ongoing financial dependence on occasional events at the Speedway.

The only thing lacking from Brower’s nostalgic longing for a return to ‘70s Daytona Beach front is a disco soundtrack.
